Voor het blok 'Biochemie' is een Computer Ondersteund Onderwijs-programma ontwikkeld, getiteld 'Metabolic Interrelationships'. Met dit programma kan op interactieve wijze het verloop van de verschillende voedingsstoffen door het lichaam worden gevolgd. Door het varieren van het tijdstip kunnen verschillende stadia na een maaltijd worden bekeken.

Dit programma is in ontwikkeling. Mocht u problemen ondervinden of fouten tegenkomen, geef deze dan per e-mail door aan M. Doets.

Vier animaties uit het programma zijn ook afzonderlijk te bekijken:

• Glycogen Branching  (versie 12-01-2001)

• Fatty Acid synthesis (versie 12-01-2001)

• Gebruikers van de Internet Explorer gebruiken kunnen naar deze pagina gaan. Shockwave wordt automatisch geïnstalleerd.

• Gebuikers van Netscape gebruiken gaan naar deze pagina om Shockwave te downloaden. Klik daar op 'Download now'. Sluit na het downloaden Netscape af en start het setup-programma dat gedownload is.

'Metabolic Interrelationships' is a Biochemistry program with interactive animations. A schematic overview of the major tissues in the human body is presented and the flow of various nutrients between these tissues can be observed and modified by varying the point of time after a meal. It is possible to zoom in on several tissues and processes and view explanatory animations or more detailed diagrams. Click on the link to start the program. To view the program, the Macromedia Shockwave plug-in is required.

The program was developed in Macromedia Director and it was implemented in the medical curriculum in January 2001. The program was made available through the Internet and students' reactions were very positive.
At the moment the development of the program continues and more interactivity (self-test questions) and clinical cases will be implemented in the future. You are free to use the program in your own courses. Feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
