Introduction

Microtubules are cytoskeletal elements, which serve as rails for intracellular transport. We are interested in how the organisation of microtubule network is controlled and how the motility of different cargos is regulated. Our research is focussed on microtubule plus end tracking proteins (+TIPs) - a group of microtubule-associated factors, which bind specifically to the tips of growing microtubules. We investigate the role of these proteins in regulating microtubule dynamics and microtubule association with various cellular structures. We also study the mechanisms of targeting of microtubule-based motors to membrane organelles and the signalling pathways, which control motor activity.
